AUTOTRADER/SUZUKI/JGRMX SAN BERNARDINO RACE REPORT

May 28, 2017

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (May 28, 2017) –  Round two of the 2017 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship Series took place at Glen Helen Raceway in San Bernardino, Calif.  The first motos were broadcast live on MAVTV, and the second motos aired live on the NBC Sports Network.  The NBC Sports Gold Pro Motocross Pass provided live streams of both motos, and both yesterday’s and last week’s races can be viewed on-demand.

In the 250 Class Kyle Cunningham suffered a tough crash during the first moto.  He appeared to have at least some minor injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital.  Because of the crash he was not able to finish the first moto or start the second moto.  He was scored 36 – 40 (DNS) and given 39th overall.  Cunningham’s injuries will be evaluated thoroughly this week and his status for Thunder Valley determined accordingly.

Both Justin Barcia and Weston Peick began the first moto inside the top-10 running ninth and eighth respectively.  Peick finished the moto in ninth with Barcia 13th.  In moto two Barcia was at the front of the field for several laps while Peick began the race just inside of the top-10.  Barcia lost several positions during the 30-minute plus two-lap race ending in 10th place while Peick advanced to sixth.  Peick’s nine – six scores gave him fifth overall in just his second race back from a broken wrist.  Barcia was credited with 11th overall for his 13 – 10 results.

Round three of the 12-race series will be held at Thunder Valley in Lakewood, Colo. on June 3.  The first motos will air live on MAVTV at 3:00 p.m. (EST), and second motos will be broadcast on June 4 at 6:00 p.m. (EST) on the NBC Sports Network.  The entire race will stream live on the NBC Sports Gold Pro Motocross Pass.
