TALE OF TWO MOTOS FOR RCH/YOSHIMURA/SUZUKI FACTORY RACING AT SPRING CREEK
July 24, 2017
MILLVILLE, Minn. (July 24, 2017) – It was a tale of two motos for RCH/Yoshimura/Suzuki Factory Racing riders Justin Bogle and Matt Bisceglia in Saturday’s Lucas Oil Pro Motocross La Crescent Wine and Spirit Spring Creek National.
Both riders were fixtures inside the top 10 for much of the first moto until a late-race crash left Bogle with a sore shoulder and 16th on the scorecard when the checkers waved signaling the end of the first 450 Class competition of the day.
Bisceglia, filling in for injured RCH staple Broc Tickle, made the most of his opportunity under the Factory Suzuki canopy by racing with the leaders for most of the opening moto and finishing 10th.
While Bogle was still sore from the incident in the first moto, you wouldn’t have known it from the early part of the second. The Cushing, Okla., rider got a strong jump out of the starting gate and capitalized when the leader went down, taking over the top spot for the first two laps around the rugged and tricky southeastern Minnesota racecourse.
The rider of the No. 19 Suzuki RM-Z450 gutted it out as best he could but ultimately had to pull off in the last stages of the second moto with shoulder soreness. In the end, Bogle logged a 16-33 effort on the day and slipped to seventh in Pro Motocross championship standings.
“We had a decent day going but once I fell on my shoulder, it was tough sledding,” explained Bogle. “I was inside the top 10 for most of the first moto, made my way up to eighth and went down with like two to go. I was hoping the break between motos would be enough for me to be ready for the second one. I got a great start and led a little bit but my shoulder just kept getting worse and I had to pull off. I don’t think there’s any serious damage but it was enough to end my day early.”
While Bisceglia was rightfully happy with his result in the first moto, the heat and fatigue caught up with him in the second, leaving him out of competition for the second half of the day.
“All in all, I’m really happy with my day,” said Bisceglia. “Practice went good and I really got comfortable with my Suzuki RM-Z450. I was happy with my bike all throughout the day. First moto came up, I got a good gate pick and ripped a really good start. I hung up front, hung with those guys for as long as I could. Towards the end of the moto I was fighting some heat exhaustion, which I wasn’t too pumped about but I still ended up in the top 10. Unfortunately, I didn’t have enough left in the tank for the second moto. It was a huge accomplishment for me, even if I was only able to do it for one moto this weekend, it was still huge for me because I haven’t raced in almost a year. I was really happy with it and happy with the team. I’m really happy with the bike and I can’t wait until Washougal.”
The Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship returns to the Pacific Northwest this weekend when the teams and riders will unload for Round 9 at Washougal MX Park in Washougal, Wash.
The first moto from the Peterson CAT Washougal National will be televised live on MAVTV Sat., July 29 beginning at 4 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time, 1 p.m. Pacific. Coverage for the second moto will shift to NBCSN at 6 p.m. EDT, 3 p.m. Pacific.
All motos can be streamed live on the NBC Sports Gold app. NBC, NBCSN and MAVTV will combine to provide extensive television coverage over the course of the 12-round season. Capping off each round of the championship will be exclusive one-hour highlight shows on NBCSN, each airing within a handful of days of every National.
