AUTOTRADER/SUZUKI/JGRMX REDBUD RACE REPORT

July 3, 2017

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (July 3, 2017) - The Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship Series reached the halfway point on Saturday. RedBud, known as one of the most popular stops on the circuit, brought out droves of enthusiastic fans for the Fourth of July festivities. The Autotrader/Suzuki/JGRMX team persevered, despite several unfortunate moments.

After qualifying fifth fastest, Justin Barcia turned a favorable gate pick into a top-five start in the first moto. Barcia battled on the fast, choppy track to a seventh place finish. In the second moto “Bam Bam” kicked the tires and lit the fires, nabbing his second holeshot in consecutive weeks. Justin led the field for seven laps, but misfortune struck when his rear end stepped out. He quickly remounted to finish sixth on the moto and fifth overall on the day.

Weston Peick was looking to carry momentum into RedBud after finishing fourth at Muddy Creek. Lady Luck dealt Peick a blow at the start of the first moto when another rider crashed in front of him. Weston dug deep, coming all of the way up to 14th from 36th. He nailed a fourth place start in the second moto and finished in that position. Peick’s 14-4 moto scores netted him 10th overall.

Difficult starting positions and bad luck held Kyle Cunningham to 14-16 moto scores for 15th overall in the 250 Class.

Round seven will be held this weekend at the sands of Southwick, Massachusetts. The first motos will air live on MAVTV at 1:00 p.m. (EST), while the second 450 moto will air live on NBC at 3:30 p.m. (EST). The final 250 moto will be tape delayed.
