AUTOTRADER/SUZUKI/JGRMX THUNDER VALLEY RACE REPORT

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (June 5, 2017) – The 2017 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship Series returned to the outskirts of the “Mile High City” of Denver, Colorado, for round three of the 12-event series. Broadcast on MAVTV and the NBC Sports Network, Thunder Valley Raceway spectators and television viewers witnessed exciting battles and surprise winners in both classes.

Justin Barcia timed the gate perfectly in the opening 450 class moto, rocketing toward the steep uphill first turn ahead all but a few competitors. Barcia hovered inside the top five on the rutted and rough track, logging consistent lap times and ending the first moto in sixth. Quick reflexes and Suzuki power resulted in another top three start in final moto. Barcia took the checkers in 12th place for ninth overall. 

Weston Peick, who is still recovering from an injured wrist sustained during the Monster Energy Supercross Series, gutted out two hard fought finishes to land just outside the top ten in the 450 class. His 12-13 moto scores were good enough for 13th on the day. 

In the 250 class, Kyle Cunningham bounced back from a massive crash at Glen Helen the week before that would have kept most racers on the sidelines. However, Cunningham’s perseverance and quick pace led to scoring points. Kyle logged 13-13 moto scores for 13th overall. 

Round four marks the 1/3 point in the 12-race series, which will be held at the historic High Point Raceway in Mt. Morris, Pennsylvania on June 17. The first motos will air live on MAVTV at 1:00 p.m. (EST). The second 450 moto will air live on NBC at 3:30 p.m. (EST), and the final 250 moto will be live at 4:30 p.m. (EST).
