AUTOTRADER/SUZUKI/JGRMX HIGH POINT RACE REPORT
June 19, 2017
HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (June
19, 2017) – The 2017 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship Series made its
first stop on the east coast swing at the historic High Point Raceway in
southern Pennsylvania. Rainstorms bombarded the area in the days leading up to
Saturday’s race, but MX Sports was vigilant in getting the course in optimal
condition.
After a busy week of
testing, Justin Barcia was looking forward to improving his outdoor results.
Unfortunately, “Bam Bam” went down hard in the opening practice session and
ustained a concussion. Upon evaluation it was determined that Barcia should
sit out the race. He will undergo further evaluation this week before the team
decides whether Justin can gear up for Muddy Creek this weekend.
Weston Peick started the
first moto just outside the top ten and worked his way up to eighth by moto’s
end. In the second moto he was in a great position to earn a top-five score.
While passing for seventh place, Peick misjudged a steep downhill section and
went over the bars. The impact caused minimal damage to his previously injured
wrist. Weston circulated the track for a few laps before pulling off. Peick
finished 16th overall on the day.
In the 250 class, Kyle
Cunningham gutted out 13-16 moto scores for 16th overall.
Round five will be held
this weekend at Sam Gammon’s Muddy Creek Raceway in Blountville, Tennessee.
first motos will air live on MAVTV at 1:00 p.m. (EST), while the second motos
will air live on NBC Sports Network beginning at 3:00 p.m. (EST).
