AUTOTRADER/SUZUKI/JGRMX SAN DIEGO RACE REPORT

Round two of the 2017 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series was held at Petco Park in San Diego, Calif. 40, 682 fans were on-hand and all of the action aired live on Fox Sports One.
Over the past four years the San Diego round has been the Military Appreciation Race supporting San Diego veterans and their families. Over $100,000 has been raised for local non-profits, much of it through the online auction featuring race worn gear signed by riders. The Autotrader/Suzuki/JGRMX Team displayed special livery for the event promoting the National League of POW/MIA Families. The League’s sole purpose is to obtain the release of all prisoners, the fullest possible accounting for the missing and repatriation of all recoverable remains of those who died serving our nation during the Vietnam War. Jake Weimer continues to substitute for the recovering Justin Barcia, who will be out a few more races. Weimer transferred to the main event through Semi One and Weston Peick made the main through Semi Two. Peick began the main in ninth, Weimer did not get the start he had hoped for and found himself in 18th. Peick was consistent throughout the race and advanced to seventh, with Weimer taking the checkers in 16th.
In 250SX West action Phillip Nicoletti transferred directly to the Main Event through Heat Race Two. He started the main in 10th position and moved into eighth by the fifth lap. At the end of the 15-minute plus one-lap race Nicoletti was eighth for the night.
Angel Stadium in Anaheim, Calif. will hold its second and final round of the 2017 series on Jan. 21. Fox Sports One will broadcast the race starting at 10:00 p.m. (EST).
